PERSERVERANCE IN THE RELIGIOUS LIFE THROUGH THE SACRED VOWS

( Bro. Fred Antonio, OFM during the rite of renewal in the hand of Fr. Gene Pastidio, OFM )

Bro. Fred Antonio, OFM, a temporary professed friar who made his simple profession on Nov 13, 2013 made his second renewal of vows on Nov. 13, 2015 during the mass at the Portiuncula Chapel of the St. Gregory the Great Friary in Quezon City. He was received by Fr. Gene Pastidio, OFM on behalf of the Minister Provincial Fr. Cielito R. Almazan, OFM.

Fr. Fernando Radin OFM and Bro. Angel Cortez, OFM, formators of the Kapanata community where Bro. Fred belongs, stood as witnesses of the renewal of vows.

Bro. Fred`s renewal of vows manifests his willingness to persevere in the consecrated life and to firmly commit to live the Franciscan way of life. It is also his way of acknowledging with deep gratitude the love of God for him through the gift of holy vocation.

Referring to the first line of the first reading from the Book of Wisdom which said,  All men were by nature foolish who were in ignorance of God, Fr. Gene in his homily wished that Fred`s desire to renew his vows is truly an act of a wise man who has found God. And, referring to the Gospel which was about the loss of lives at the coming of the Son of Man, he says that our vowed life is a testimony of the End Times, that all our relationships, all our attachments, even the things that we consider very necessary for our existence will have no value, when the Son of Man comes.
